Elroq, Paper, Scissors A childhood game meets a fully electric future
How Škoda launched the all-new Elroq by playing around. Literally. ⚡️
Electric cars are everywhere. So when Škoda introduced their first fully electric compact SUV, the Elro, they needed more than just showroom lights, spec sheets, or press releases. They needed something playful, social, and memorable.

Elroq... Paper... Scissors!
The game transformed an age-old hand contest into an interactive, gesture-driven digital experience. Players across the Netherlands battled both virtual and real opponents using their phone or laptop cameras. Advanced technologies such as WebGL and TensorFlow powered real-time gesture detection, while hidden combo moves injected a playful element of unpredictability into every match.
Turning hands into hype
So what's at stake? Two years of free driving in the new Škoda Elroq. And to fuel the hype, we paired the game with a nationwide Elroq Roadshow and a vibrant social campaign, teasing, tempting, and challenging users daily.

Play for keeps..
and keys
Behind the scenes, WebGL and TensorFlow worked together to read players’ gestures in real time. No buttons, no click, just show your move.
The system tracked 21 key points per hand, instantly recognizing rock, paper, or scissors through your webcam.
